TGHS Rowing 2025
A summer of training leads to success!
Margaret Peters and Ella Inch have had a great summer on the water in the sport of rowing. With the girls' seasons looking slightly different for their club season with Margaret spending a summer in Australia and Ella joining the Craighead Diocesan School squad they will now both pull on the TGHS rowing suit and compete at the South Island Secondary Schools Rowing Championships at Lake Ruataniwha from the 5th - 7th of March in the single sculls.
Margaret has spent the summer rowing around the Gold Coast canals in Queensland. She was fortunate enough to be absorbed into The Gold Coast Griffith University Surfers Paradise Club where she trained and raced with students from St Hilda’s. The coach of the Performance Squad, Nick Graham, gave her guidance and encouragement for the summer which she was grateful for.
She was selected to compete in the Queensland State Championships. She was placed 5th in the Under 19 Grade - Double Sculls.
Ella has trained hard alongside the Craighead Diocesan School squad attending their trainings and camps and has competed throughout the season at various regattas with pleasing results. Ella achieved great placings at the Canterbury Rowing Championships earning her place in the 'A' final in the quad and also the single sculls and has had consistent placings in 'B' finals in other regattas.
Good luck Margaret and Ella for the upcoming South Island Secondary School Championships - row hard and we look forward to following your progress.
