Year 9 2023 Start of Year Information

TGHS —

This information was sent to families of all new year 9's on the 9 December from Mr Andy Collins the Year 9 Dean.

I would like to welcome you to the Timaru Girls’ High School family and thank you for your time and contribution to the enrolment interviews that were held recently. We have an amazing group of girls coming into Year 9 in 2023, and we are all looking forward to them arriving.

Now that you have had your enrolment interview, you will start to get our newsletter link emailed to you, just to get you into the feel of being a part of our TGHS community!

Another good way to keep in contact with what is going on with our school is to join the Timaru Girls’ High School and Timaru Girls’ High School Sports pages on Facebook or on Instagram. We also have an app we use through SchoolAppNZ. You can download this app here: https://timarugirls.apps.school.nz/install/ With this app you can access features such as: the school calendar, daily notices, newsletters, term dates, KAMAR parent portal, staff email addresses, advise of an absences, and alerts from the school about upcoming events etc.

To access your daughters information on our school management system KAMAR, you will need to go to the SchoolAppNZ parent portal, or you can log in though our website.
Your login details were supplied in the email sent on the 9 December.:

Our school uniform can now be purchased from NZ Uniforms. There is a store at 151a Hilton Highway, Washdyke or it can be purchased on their website. The school no longer has second hand uniforms available but there are a number of on-line Facebook pages that often have second hand uniforms for sale. These are called “School Uniforms Timaru” and “Timaru School Uniforms”.

For those families who have placed an order for any sports uniform through SHOPIFY, this will be issued to your daughter at school the first week. The next ordering cycle will open in March 2023. You will be notified when this opens again. If you have missed ordering a compulsory PE Sports top, please contact Mrs Waldron on dwaldron@timarugirls.school.nz as soon as possible.

Information containing details around your daughters subjects for next year, stationary list/details, and information about the Year 9 camp that will run in week one from the 1st-3rd of February, was emailed to families on the 9 December.

The first few days of 2023 will run slightly differently to our usual timetable format. This is in order to allow the Year 9 students to get an understanding of the school environment, meet their Form teachers, and get connected to the network etc. Please send your daughter along with her device or if she needs to hire a device please complete the attached Chromebook Loan Agreement. A bond of $50 will be charged to your school account.
