Hostel Update

The Hostel - May 20, 2020

We welcomed boarders back to the Hostel on Sunday 17 May ready for school on Monday. It was great to have so many girls return to hostel life after their online learning at home.

We also welcomed a new Director Of Boarding - Elle Bradley, and some fancy new equipment into The House. We now have two iPads with our boarding software for town visits and weekend leave, as well as a charging trolley for technology at night, and most importantly - an automatic hot chocolate and coffee machine in our dining hall!

We completed an isolation room, more fondly known as the 'Harry Potter Room' (because it's under the stairs) which has a full ensuite bathroom. This is especially important given recent times and the need for a dedicated space in case boarders who are unwell are unable to return home or go into homestay straight away.

Rusty the dog visits most days, and when asked how he felt life was in level 4 his answer was 'ruff'.

We created a game called 'lockdown bingo' which most girls completed on the first night for prep, it was a great way to mix, mingle and swap stories on what we all did during lockdown.

Our Head of House, Zoe and Deputy Gillian, are leading the way and have some ideas in the pipeline for events, and have finalised the design for a pair of hostel track pants.

We have started gathering some 'hostel family favourite' recipes, which will be collated throughout the year and made into a recipe book!

There have been a few minor changes to adapt to boarding life at level 2 but everyone is safe and happy in 'The House'.
