Year 10 Careers Day
All our Year 10 students recently participated in a Careers Day which was aimed at exposing them to a wide range of future pathway opportunities.
The day started with an "Inspiring the Future" event where they had to guess the occupations of 8 local role models (including a number of TGHS Old Girls) who were dressed in mufti clothing before they changed into their work attire and told the students about their jobs.
This was followed by a "Leadership Workshop" by Anna Bolland who talked about being a positive force for change, personal branding & success.
In the afternoon the students participated in a "Trades Have a Go" session run by a number of businesses. They loved painting, hammering, wiring, operating a digger, driving the simulator & climbing inside the cars & Fonterra Tanker.
A huge thank you to the following people/business for making it all possible: Courtney Molloy & Renee Sargent (Venture Timaru), Debs Betsworth (Health NZ), Michelle Pye (Pye Group + TDC Councillor), Celine Bennison (SC Aero Club), Sange Malama (Multicultural Aoraki), Neroli Wall (Aorangi Vet Services), Meghan McNally (Harcourts), Tracey Coles (Fonterra), Anna Bolland, Ken Hay (ETCO), Maureen McClenaghan & team (MITO), Mel Tracey (Resene), Richard Geary (BCITO), Cody McMinn, Mark Wheatley, Charlie Auty (Ara), Christine Walker & Swampy (Fulton Hogan), Deb Quested (Timaru Police), Tracey Coles, Jason Hurley & team (Fonterra).
