South Island Secondary School Athletics - 2024

The South Island Secondary School Athletics Championships were held on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th April in Timaru. With athletes coming from all over the South Island it was a big event for our girls and one they did extremely well in!


Massive congratulations to Bella Thin who took out the South Island Under 19 200m title and to Year 9 Shayler Lange who won the Under 14 Javelin title.


We had 11 girls selected from their Aoraki Secondary School events with many top 10 finishes as per below.


Under 19 Girls

Bella Thin - 1st place 200m and 3rd place 100mHolly Thin - 5th place 400m, 8th place 200m and 11th place 100m

Alysha Harding - 7th place Shot put


Under 16 Girls

Tessa Macdonald - 6th place 400m and 6th place 800m


Under 15 Girls

Akacia Moss - 7th place 200m, 6th place 400m, 12th place 800mAmya Bird - 7th place 400m, 7th place Long Jump

Lisita Finau - 6th place Discus


Under 14 Girls

Shayler Lange - 1st place JavelinRinah Bird - 8th place 800m, 11th place 400m

Morgan Palmer - 7th place High Jump

Anaya Mana - 5th place Shotput


A massive thanks to our volunteer helpers Amelia Geary, Sarah Peters, Seatini Tusani, Mr Dawson, Mrs Quinonez, Ms Kerridge and Malfy who gave up their weekend to act as officials/managers.
