It has been a busy start to Term 2 at The House. We started by welcoming our new Director of Boarding Deborah Bayliss. Deborah joins us from the North Island but has many years under her belt as DOB at Southland Girls' High School. Deborah has settled in exceptionally well at The House and has been getting to know the boarders and their whanau. The staff and boarders look forward to learning and growing under Deborah's leadership.

We have just had our Compulsory in Weekend, this is a weekend where all boarders stay in and take part in some exciting activities. Usually this is done at the beginning of Term 1, but Covid had other plans. Friday night started off with a Movie night and snacks and then a full house game of Spotlight.

On Saturday we went down to the South Canterbury Skating for rollerblading – some of our boarders are super-fast, and then supported our peers at their Saturday netball and hockey. Saturday night we also had Mr Whippy join us, which was a huge hit.

Sunday was our school Open Day, so we all worked together to make the hostel sparkle in the morning. We enjoyed touring families from all over the South Island and encourage them all to come back for a private tour if they wish.

The House is looking forward to catching up with Thomas House this term, themed dinners, wellbeing sessions and much more.
