In week one this term Year 9’s and 10’s put their Maths skills to the test in a fast-paced team quiz.

In preparation for the Aoraki Maths Competition coming up on Thursday the 12th of August, the Maths Department ran Maths Quizzes for the junior year groups. Everyone got involved and had a great time; in fact most teams did better than they thought they would!

Our winning Year 9 teams:

First on 11 points: Emily Phimister, Lily Weir, Renee Habraken, and Brooklyn Strachan from 9EN

Second equal on 7 points: Isabelle England, Philippa Bromley, Holly Thin, and Annabel Gardiner from 9GD and Lucy Niven, Elyssa Geddis, Rexanne Ocon, and Tiah Moore also from 9GD.

Our winning Year 10 teams tied for First equal on 13 points and 1 pass were:

Phoebe Francis, Chloe Kerslake, McKendra Sparkes, and Brodie Young from 10TL and Rebecca Kidd, Nerissa Fitzgearld, Holly Turner, and Olivia Hinton from 10BT.

Special mentions to all the helpers who made this event happen, especially to our markers - Mr Gellatly’s Year 11 Maths class, Miss Crosse’s Year 12 Maths class (and Mrs Baird!).

Congratulations to all the participants for your effort and positive attitude towards this fun event. And good luck to our teams who will be off to represent TGHS at the Aoraki Maths Competition.
