Aoraki Mathematics Competition

Maths —

On Wednesday 7th August, two Year 9 and three Year 10 teams from TGHS competed in the annual Aoraki Mathematics Competition.

This is a challenging and fast-paced mathematics contest where schools from across the south Canterbury region compete against each other in teams to answer questions as quickly as possible within a 30 minute time period. Around 25 teams competed at each year level. Our teams acquitted themselves very well, with one of our Year 9 teams placing 4th, narrowly missing out in the 3rd place tie-break.

We would like to congratulate all our students who participated. These were Nakeisha Austin, Rinah Bird, Azaria Kleinow, Georgia Kortright, Scarla Robinson, Haana Thorp, Mary Thorp, Jorja Wilkins from Year 9 and Maggie Coles, Gabby Davis, Jennica Ewen, Aliza Huddart, Alison Harbutt, Navlin Kumar, Maddie Maclachlan, Charlie Macdonald, Melissa O’Connor, Ashlee Robertson, Leandre van Rooyen and Emmerson Ward from Year 10.
