Inspiring the Future

Jo Shaw —

Last week our Year 10 students took part in an exciting new event designed by the Tertiary Education Commission.

Inspiring the Future is based on research from Aotearoa and overseas and has been created to broaden young people’s horizons, and help challenge stereotypes that can limit their potential.

The event was organised by our Education to Employment Broker, Courtney Young, from Venture Timaru. We were fortunate to have eight local female business role models join us for the day. They all had inspiring messages & helpful tips for the students & encouraged them to "be brave, be confident, try their best & never give up".

We would like to say a big thank you to:

Mel Tracey - Sales Representative: Resene

Rebecca Campbell - HR Manager: Sanford Fisheries Ltd

Cheryl Stewart - Junior Doctor: Timaru Hospital

Stacey Burnett - Environmental Manager: Fonterra

Brittany Talbot - Agronomist: Turnbull Grain & Seed

Bianca Sheed - Owner: Base Fitness

Sally Gaudin - Painter/Decorator: Rangers Specialist Coatings

Hinemoa McMahon - Youth Aid Officer: Timaru Police
