An Update from the Board of Trustees
- The board’s first meeting for 2023 saw parent representative Keri Johnston elected as the new presiding member, replacing Vicki McKnight, who has served for a number of years.
- Vicki was co-opted as a parent representative since the 2022 election until March this year to assist with handover, and has now handed over the reins as presiding member and as a member of the board.
- The board had also co-opted Alison Leadley, whose term also came to an end in 2022. Alison has been chair of the board’s Finance subcommittee for a number of years and has had the responsibility of advising the board on the school’s finances.
- The board would like to acknowledge the service of both Vicki and Alison, and, on behalf of the board and the school community, thank them both for the commitment they have shown as parent representatives on the board.
- Adam Martin has been elected chair of the finance subcommittee, and Angela Habraken has been elected chair of the hostel subcommittee.
- The board received a report on the 2022 NCEA results. Overall, the results were an improvement upon last year with some good gains in Merit achievements at level 1. Overall achievement rates are at or above national and similar decile data, in the majority of comparison areas.
- The strategic plan for 2023-2025 and the annual plan were also adopted. These plans will be available on the school’s website after they’ve been submitted to the Ministry of Education.
