Mathex Competition
Next term there will be the first ever Kōtuitui Mathex Competition held between the nine primary schools in our area.
We thought it would be a great opportunity to become excited about maths and hold our very own TPS competition in Week 10 of this term. This will involve both the a year ¾ competition as well as the Year ⅚ competition.
Mathex is a fun, however competitive Maths Competition. It comprises of teams of four students, with one student being the designated runner. The teams have 30 minutes to answer a maximum of 20 questions, which gradually become more difficult. The tricky thing is they only get one question at a time and can’t move on to the next question without either a correct answer or passing. Each question must be taken up to the markers by their runner and are worth 5 points each. The team with the most points wins!
Some of the classes have started to have fun and are preparing for this. Here is Room 22 practising their Maths skills as well as having a lot of fun with their Mathex competition today.
