Tumuaki / Principal Message

Andrea Thomas —

I can't believe we are nearing the end of the school year - I want to thank those that came for yesterday's Celebration of Learning, or those that attended any Term 4 events and also to remind whānau about clearing up this year's Kindo account.

Celebration of Learning

Celebration of Learning days are a special part of the term here at Titirangi School. This is because we all come together at this time, to showcase and celebrate the learning and successes of our students. It's always heartening to see whānau here at school, seeing the progression and achievement of our learners. I would like to thank all who have been able to come along to our Celebration of Learning days over the course of this year.

Donations and Parent Contributions

It's that time of the year where we ask caregivers to check any unpaid items on Kindo and clear these items. The school donations go to really important things - it helps to provide extra teacher aides and intervention programmes such as Google Read and Write and Nessy, it helps us to pay for some of the special events that take place at school - displaying artwork at Te Uru was a real highlight but the cost of using the gallery is $2,000 plus the all of the associated art material costs - it is an amazing experience we can provide for our tamariki and the school donation helps us to do this sort of thing. It has also allowed us to fund an extra teacher, which has kept class numbers low across all year levels.

There are also some trips with outstanding payments, including some for the Term 1 camp. These all add up to thousands outstanding - any payments you are able to make are a huge help! Make sure you claim your tax credit for the donation - you can claim back 33.3% - you just need the school's receipt (I believe you can claim up to four years afterwards - so if you forgot to claim last year's it may not be too late - see the IRD for more info).

Inter-School Events

These competition days are a great experience for our students - recently we had both the Football Zone Day and the Athletics Zone Day. Both days were brilliant - with sun shining and some results to be proud of. The thing that always make me smile the most is the sportsmanship that our students display. Cheering on not only their teammates but also the other schools, being graceful in both victory and defeat - they do us and yourselves really proud on those days.

Thank for another wonderful term - we hope you enjoy the final few weeks of school - and hopefully we get lots of sunshine to take us through to the end of the year!
