Andrea Thomas —

Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa. As we approach the mid-year break, I want to take this opportunity to wish every one of our whānau a safe, restful and rejuvenating holiday.

It's a chance to recharge, spend quality time together and enjoy the cooler days. This term has been a truly vibrant one, filled with moments that highlight the incredible spirit of our school community. Our recent Disney Quiz Night was a roaring success, a fantastic evening of laughter, friendly competition and community connection. A huge shout-out and ngā mihi nui to all the parents and whānau who volunteered their time, donated items, and participated with such enthusiasm – your support made it a truly magical night!

We also celebrated Matariki with a spectacular morning gathering. The performances, the shared kai and the collective reflection on our past, present, and future were incredibly moving. Witnessing our tamariki share their understanding of Te Ao Māori with such pride was a true highlight, and again, we are so grateful for the contributions of our whānau and staff in making this such a memorable event - from cooking on the BBQ to mixing the milo and cutting the fruit - thank you for all your help.

To our dedicated teachers and staff – kia kaha rawa atu koutou – thank you for your unwavering hard work, passion and commitment to our students' learning and well-being. Your efforts, often behind the scenes, are truly what make our school a nurturing and inspiring place.

And to our wonderful students – ka pai tō mahi! We congratulate you all on your successes this term. As we reflect on your progress, remember that every journey is unique and individual. It's so easy to look at what others are doing, but your focus should always be on your own progress and personal growth. Celebrate every step forward, no matter how big or small. Whether it's moving up a sub-level in writing, representing the school with pride at a sports event, bravely performing in front of the school or community, or simply making a new friend in the playground – these are all significant achievements that deserve to be acknowledged and celebrated.

Let's carry this spirit of individual progress and celebration into the next six months. Encourage your children to set small, achievable goals, and help them to see the value in every effort they make.

Enjoy the break, stay warm and we look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for Term 3.

Ngā mihi manaaki,

Andrea
