Have you seen a Tagged Monarch?

Office Admin Titirangi School —

Last week Room 16 were lucky enough to help tag and collect data from the butterflies that hatched in Room 3.

We have learnt how to tag them so that scientists can track where they go when they hatch. I don't know if you have noticed, but there seems to be less and less each year. You can help us by reporting the details of a tagged monarch should you happen to find one.

The tags are linked to a short form of the Moths and Butterflies Trust website, www.mb.org.nz.

If someone finds a tagged butterfly they can help by visiting the website and entering:
The tag code
The location where it was found
A short description of the site
Any helpful details like weather conditions

The journey of the butterfly is then shared with both the tagger and the reporter, and recorded in a database available for use by scientists, schools, and conservationists.
