Sports Appreciation Day

Office Admin Titirangi School —

Last week we celebrated our sports stars and our "all in" school spirit with a fantastic Sports Appreciation Dress-Up Day!

Sports play a huge role in our students' lives, teaching them confidence, teamwork, and healthy habits. It was awesome to see so many of our students and teachers get into the spirit by dressing up in their favourite sports uniforms and gear.

We'd like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who contributed a gold coin donation. Your generosity will go directly toward new sports equipment for our students. We raised $424.40 today.

We also held a special sports assembly and took a whole-school picture. During the assembly, we proudly recognised our amazing Inter-School Girls and Boys Basketball teams and our Blockhouse Bay Football Invitational 4th and 5th place teams for their incredible efforts.

A big round of applause to the teachers who won the "best-dressed" awards:

  • Dana, for her awesome underwater hockey player costume.

  • Raygun Reid, for embracing her break dancer alter ego.

  • Mrs. Adey, who showed off her red belt as a karate expert.

At lunch time we had lots of fun with races, games and sports available on the field.

Another highlight of the day was a visit from Mikayla and Sachin from the Auckland Football Club AFC that competes in the A-League Men, the top flight of Australian football. They brought with them the Auckland Men's premier shield that Auckland AFC won in the 2024 season. The kids got to see this close up, ask questions and grab a picture! Thanks to Shalvin Dutt Nivaan from Room 23’s dad for making the connection for this.

A special thank you has to go out to our two incredible sports coordinators, Kiran and Katrina, who invest so much time and passion into sports at TPS. The success of today is a true testament to both of you, your dedication, and your commitment to giving our tamariki opportunities to be involved, succeed, and be celebrated. Your enthusiasm makes a real difference, and we are so grateful for everything you do! Thanks again to everyone who participated and made today such a memorable celebration of sports at TPS!
