Tumuaki / Principal Korero - Strengthening Our Bonds: Whanaungatanga in Action
Come along to our annual Whānau Picnic - next Thursday 12th March 3.15pm for
At the heart of our school’s vision is a commitment to Whanaungatanga — the process of establishing relationships and relating to others. As part of our current strategic goals, we are focused on continuing to deepen and increase the opportunities for our whānau and wider community to connect, share and grow together.
We believe that when the bond between home and school is strong, our tamariki thrive. To bring this goal to life, we are excited to invite you to our upcoming community event!
You’re Invited: Our Whānau Picnic!
Join us for an afternoon of fun, food, and connection. This is a wonderful opportunity to step onto the school grounds, meet the teachers in a relaxed setting, and get to know the other families in your child’s class.
When: Thursday, 12th March
Time: Starting at 3:00 PM
What’s happening: Fun games for the kids, sausage sizzle and plenty of space to relax.
How it works:
To help everyone find their "home base" for the afternoon, we will have signs positioned across the field indicating where each class is gathered.
We encourage you to find your child’s class sign, pull up a patch of grass, and spend some time sitting with that specific group. It’s the perfect chance to introduce yourselves to the families your children spend their days with.
What to bring: Please bring along a picnic dinner or afternoon tea for your family. We’ll provide the atmosphere; you provide the picnic blankets and the smiles!
Why This Matters
School assessment and learning environments in New Zealand are shifting more rapidly today than at any other time in my 28 years of teaching. Amidst all this change, the one constant that ensures student success is connection. By building these relationships now, we create a supportive network that carries our students through their entire educational journey.
We can’t wait to see the field full of families, laughter and great kōrero.
Ngā mihi nui,
Andrea
