Strike Action Alert: What This Means for Titirangi School

We're writing to give you a heads-up about the upcoming nationwide strike action involving primary school teachers, support staff and school principals. This action is happening on Thursday 23rd October.

Our Decision on School Operation

The most important thing for you to know right now is that the Titirangi School Board will be making the final decision on whether the school will be closed entirely for the day or open for limited supervision only.

We understand this may be inconvenient, but please know that the staff taking this action are doing so to highlight the critical need for better funding for resources, staffing and support—all of which directly impact your child's learning environment. We stand by our incredible team. They are the heart of our school, and their work is invaluable!

What We Are Asking of You

If the Board decides to open the school for supervision, it would be with significantly reduced staff and therefore extremely limited capacity.

We would be strongly asking parents to please keep your children home for the day if at all possible.

This would allow us to safely supervise the very small number of students who absolutely must attend.

Next Steps

We are working through the details and will let you know the Board's final decision—whether the school will be closed or open for supervision—as soon as it is confirmed.

We truly appreciate your understanding and support as we navigate this action. We know that rearranging childcare is a pain, and we thank you in advance for your flexibility and cooperation. If the school is closed, we will be communicating with Kelly Club so they can make their own decisions about whether to run full day care for students.

Ngā mihi nui,

Andrea
