Following feedback from the community, along with assessment changes brought about by the curriculum refresh, we have adjusted our assessment and reporting overview for the year - this affects the first week of school in 2026.

Previously, we have started the year with two Whānau Days, and our first learning conferences were at the end of Term 2. Feedback has been that this is often too late and it would be good to have face to face conversations earlier in the year (even though teachers often have extra meetings with whānau prior to this).

We will be moving these to the end of term 1, with a mid year report at the end of Term 2 (but not learning conferences).

The first day of school, Monday 2nd February, will be a day of Akomanga Hui / Class Meetings the school will be open for whānau for the day.

All classes will be running an information session instead of the one to one conferences. The purpose of this session is for teachers to meet you and share their programmes and expectations for the year ahead.

All classes in a year level will be sharing at the same time. These sessions will be staggered across the day so parents can attend more than one if there are siblings. There will be an opportunity to meet the teacher informally.

12pm Year 4

1pm Year 5/6

Near the end of Term 1, there will be a half day of school and then school will close early and we will hold learning conferences so that teachers can feedback about how students have started the year and to set goals for the year.

In term 2, there will be mid year reports and in term 3, whānau will have another opportunity to have a face to face learning conference and the year will finish with our end of year report.

This change means that there will be an opportunity to learn about your child's progress in each term of the year - either through a school report or a learning conversation - we know that when kura and home work together collaboratively, that great things can happen!
