Garden to Table news
Vegetable Fritters and Apple and Slaw Salad
Over the past fortnight, our gardens have been thriving with rapid growth! The senior classes have officially begun their timetabled lessons and are excited to develop valuable life skills.
Our Senior students have been hard at work, carefully tying back the tomato vines in the hothouse and harvesting fresh courgettes, marrow and pumpkin from the main gardens. These were transformed into delicious vegetable fritters, complemented by freshly picked silver beet and carrots among other vegetables. To accompany the fritters, students prepared a vibrant salad featuring kale, red cabbage, parsley, coriander, carrot, and apple—an absolutely delicious combination!
Meanwhile, in the garden, a group of students has been busy creating scarecrows and labeling our crops. Our dedicated young gardeners have also been weeding, digging up potatoes, and laying them out to dry for future use. Additionally, they have planted broccoli, cauliflower, spring onions, kale, silver beet, and pumpkin, ensuring a bountiful harvest in the coming months.
It’s been a fantastic start to our gardening journey —watch this space for more updates on our growing adventures! We still need volunteers for the garden so please get in touch with your child's teacher if you can help.
