Junior Enviro-group
The Junior enviro-group spent an afternoon with Town Belt Kaitiaki co-ordinator, Maureen, learning about the different types of birds in our Town Belt.
We logged our bird-count onto ‘eBird’, an online database of bird observations which provides data about bird distribution and abundance to scientists. Birds are important for their role in our ecosystems by controlling pests, pollinating plants, and spreading seeds. They are a key indicator of environmental health.
The enviro-group are happy to show others how to do the bird count, and they welcome newcomers to the group for next year.
