The Otago-Secondary Schools team tournament was held at the weekend.

The tournament, which was hosted by Logan Park High School, attracted a record 15 teams.

Seven rounds of play are packed into an afternoon and early evening.

In each game, played using chess clocks to time each move, each player must complete his or her moves in a maximum of 20 minutes or risk forfeiting the game.

Although there had been uncertainty as to whether the tournament could proceed the weekends tournament was a tense and demanding affair but "good fun and quite a social event".
