On Saturday 17th June, Trinity hosted the Otago Chess Champs for primary and intermediate schools.

The event took place in the library from midday till 6.00 pm. That's a lot of time and concentration!

Each player had seven games (1 pt for a win, 1/2 point for a draw, 0 for a loss), so the maximum possible points for one player is 7. As you can see below, all of our players produced solid performances.
Our team was:

• Board 1 Gaow Kaewsaibuathong (4 pts)
• Board 2 Jon Ronaldson (3 pts)
• Board 3 Josh Elliotte (5 pts)
• Board 4 Skyla Knopp (5 pts)

Well done to our intermediate team which gained the 4th best score out of 10 schools. A very promising result which bodes well for the future of Trinity chess.
