It is with great pleasure that we introduce Suzanne Andrews to our community, and welcome Suzanne into our Trinity Catholic College Whānau!
Twenty-five years after leaving Dunedin, the familiar sights and smells of a city I've had a long-term relationship ground me. It's a love thing. A Dunedin thing. A quiet, charming thing. And here I am teaching English at Trinity College, just down the road from where our children attended Arthur St School. Talk about blast from my past!
I'd taught English at John McGlashan and OGHS before the lure of change took us to Auckland for a decade. There I worked in a variety of fields including management of Kiwi Can - a life skills educational programme; High school teaching; offshore recruitment; sales; and events. I also ran my own confident communication classes for adults.
With my grown-up kids acting like grown-ups, I decided it was time to set off on an adventure. First there was Brunei for two years then Hong Kong for ten. I taught English for most of this time then self-published two series of self-help books especially for teenage girls and women. My next little adventure was LA where my Mellow Yellow bicycle and I hung out with family and basked in the magic of movies and sunshine for 18 months.
Longing to hang washing on a clothesline and eat chop suey patties with chips, I settled back into Dunedin life a year ago. Nothing has changed dramatically except it's my first time teaching in a co-ed school. Thank you so much for having me.
The air is still. The air is quiet. Dunedin is quiet. Quiet is good, for now!
