Google Classroom Guardian Summaries

Rachel MortimerFebruary 10, 2025

An email will be sent to caregivers inviting you to receive guardian summaries of your child(ren)s Google Classroom.

Trinity Catholic College uses Google Classroom for most classes for as a classroom management tool. This allows staff to communicate with their class, share lessons and resources, set up and mark assignments. Guardian access is enabled for our Google classrooms. When a guardian accepts an invitation from a teacher, they get regular emails about their child’s work and classes. These email summaries include information about Missing work – Work not handed in when the summary was sent; upcoming work – work that’s due today and tomorrow (for those receiving daily emails) or that’s due in the upcoming week (for those receiving weekly emails). It also shows class activity – Announcements, assignments and questions recently posted by teachers. It just shows the stream and assignment dates. It doesn’t show all the work and resources listed in their Classwork tab.

The daily or weekly email is a summary of all of their classrooms and looks a little like that shown in the link below. Once an invite has been accepted, automatically all subjects with guardian summaries turned on are included. The parent can then choose to have a daily or weekly update in the settings. You can see a sample of a Classroom Guardian Summary here

Guardians must accept the invite to get this summary. To receive Classroom Summaries, you MUST have a Google account. If you don’t have a Google account and would like to receive these, you will need to set up a Google account either creating a new gmail email address or using your current email address.

Next week emails will be sent to parents/caregivers who are notice recipients in Edge, inviting them to receive Google Classroom Guardian Summaries for their child/children or student(s) in their care. If you are already receiving guardian summaries, you are unlikely to receive this email but if you do, please ignore it. You can also ignore the invitation if this is not something that interests you. If you are having issues or have a question, please email helpdesk@trinity.school.nz
