GARDEN TO TABLE

Ang Strand —

Last week we helped build a lizard garden next to the school driveway. We had help from Mrs Strand and a few adults called Abbey, Nicki and Robyn who are people from outside the school. It was so fun and even though it was cold we enjoyed it a lot. In the garden it has little hidey holes for the lizards to hide in, a lizard hotel for them to sunbathe on called Hotel Lizardvania, and lots of new plants that we think they will love. The lizard hotel is where it can't be seen but gets a fair amount of sun. We put some driftwood around the Lizard garden to make lizards feel a bit more safe. We also put some rocks on the corner so that cars don't run over the plants or the lizards. We wrote the Māori names for some of the native plants on pieces of wood and then we hammered them into the ground. In summer hopefully some lizards will come and enjoy the garden.
