MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD

Tītahi Bay School —

Tēnā koutou Tītahi Bay School Community

As we complete the final days of school for 2022, the Tītahi Bay School Board would like to reflect on what has been another amazing year at our kura.

We would like to recognise Matt Tilley, who joined our kura at the beginning of Term 2 as our Tumuaki. We have loved working alongside Matt and enjoyed the passion and love for learning he has brought to our school. He has been busy adding top of the line resources to our outside area for the benefit of active tamariki.

We are expecting to see our back court go to another level early next year once it is turfed. It has been wonderful to see how quickly he bounced back from an unexpected health scare earlier in the year.

Our teachers and support staff have done a phenomenal job this year during a time that has brought about unprecedented complications. In a year where Covid-19 has meant for a large number of sick teachers and children, they have ensured that our students continue to learn and develop while showing extra layers of resilience. We wish our departing staff the best in their next personal and professional journeys.

A special thank you to Jamie Merrick who has worked closely with the Board over the years as part of the Senior Leadership Team.

This week some of our Board were able to attend the year 6 leavers celebration. What a remarkable event that was. The speeches, waiata and trophies all made for a highly memorable evening and it showed we are a school that looks and sounds like we are from Aotearoa.  A big farewell to our year 6 students and whānau that finish their journey with us.  A huge thank you for your contributions over the years. Anyone that saw our leavers at the celebration knows what a special group they are.

Finally, to all our tamariki and whānau, thank you for all your hard work and doing your part for our beautiful kura.  Next year we will be calling on you more as we look to re-engage the community after a few years disrupted by Covid. We will be asking for your thoughts on February 22 during ‘The Meet the Teacher Evening’.  There will be a range of opportunities to connect next year.  We look forward to seeing you all in 2023.

Meri Kirihimete me ngā mihi o te tau hou - seasons greetings for Christmas and the new year.
