BOOK WEEK

Leah Merewater —

What a blast Book Week 2023 has been!

A true celebration of literacy and reading but also creativity, so many great costumes and happy faces.

The Book Week Dress Up Parade - always a highlight and it did not disappoint this year with the added element of our school made costumes. How cool seeing all the seniors getting into it, my personal favourite was Room 13 with their Mr and Little Miss costumes- Ka Rawe!

New to 2023 was the recognition awards for those who showed KURA in the making process and it was heartwarming to see these tamariki being celebrated as well.

One very cool thing about our costumes and the book swap was that reinforcing the importance of reduce, reuse, and recycle.

The book swap was an excellent opportunity for students to share and exchange their favorite books with their peers and was run by our awesome senior students.  Thanks to Room 11 and Mrs Strand for your extra hard mahi around this.

A special thanks must go out to the all fabulous teachers and the whānau who brought in supplies, helped out with the activities or watched the parade and cheered us on.

The Hells Pizza wheel was a great reward for all tamariki, lots of motivated readers and lots of tamariki will be bringing that home today.

Your support and involvement made the week even more special and showed that KURA Street School is a community that values reading, creativity, and fun!!
