TUMUAKI PĀNUI
Kia ora koutou ngā whānau o te kura o Tītahi Bay,
We kicked off the week with a warm welcome as many new tamariki and whānau joined our school for their exciting journey. Moving forward, our welcoming ceremony will be referred to as a "mihi whakatau" instead of a "pōwhiri." While still a ceremony of welcome, a mihi whakatau is considered slightly less formal than a pōwhiri and can be held in various settings, including our school hall. This process of consultation has been thorough and carried out in partnership with Ngāti Toa Rangatira.
Our FIFA World Cup event concluded last week, with Portugal from Room 7 emerging as the champions of the Rākau division, and USA from Room 13 claiming victory in the Ngahere category. It was a few weeks filled with thrilling lunchtime competitions. Additionally, congratulations to Room 9 for securing the top spot in the country-themed art display! As we eagerly await the Rugby World Cup, more excitement is on the horizon.
This term, the Kowaiau program has been enriching the learning experience for our senior school students, and we are truly fortunate to have it. The students have been thoroughly enjoying the sessions. The anticipation is building for the upcoming dance show. To ensure you secure your tickets, kindly complete the google form. For those interested in the matinee shows, there will be plenty of tickets available for collection at the office on Monday, September 4.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead,
Matt Tilley
