TUMUAKI PĀNUI

Matt Tilley —

Kia ora koutou ngā whānau o te kura o Tītahi Bay,

It is hard to believe that this is the second to last pānui of the 2022 year. This is a time of year that encourages large amounts of reflection for both teachers and students. We have come a long way from the huge disruptions that Covid bestowed on kura and all work places around the country. We know that 2022 has been a different education experience than the norm but our ākonga (learners) have shown incredible resilience and stability during this time and I credit our amazing kaimahi (staff) for this.

I hope that you and your child take the time over the next few weeks to show gratitude to the kaiako that have impacted your child in a positive way in 2022. Whether it was being in a sports team, choir, kapa haka group, EPro8 team or in the classroom, our kaiako go above and beyond to provide the most incredible experiences for our young people. I know that all kaiako love hearing about the positive impacts they have had on your children.

On December 8 your child will have an afternoon with their 2023 teacher. Students getting a chance to see their new spaces and meet their teacher makes for a happy stress free summer.

Our year 6 pupils are currently having the time of their lives up in Waikanae at El Rancho Camp and we know that our year 5s will already be excited about going away early in Term 1 next year. You will know the immense amount of work that goes into getting our tamariki away so I am thankful to our Ngahere team. I also want to thank all our parents that have taken time out to go as parent helpers. We couldn’t do it without you!

We are looking for some people to help out for our afternoon on the green (details in this newsletter). It has been a challenge getting whānau into schools over the last few years so we are hoping that you come along and spend time with our kura community. We want some parents on the BBQ so if this sounds like you, please sing out!

Have a great weekend and look forward to seeing you all soon,

Ngā mihi nui
