KERRY'S THOUGHTS

It is week 5 of an 8 week term and we are running as there are lots of things happening at school. I talked in my last newsletter about our year 6's and how they will be feeling. There are lots of emotions as they get ready to leave our school, please make sure you are talking with your KURA kids about this and reassuring them it will be fine. We are seeing quite a lot of emotions at school around this.

We are also seeing lots of tired KURA kids. I know we have had some lovely days but we do all get tired and our little people need plenty of sleep.

Jodene will be ringing you if your child doesn't eat their school lunch and give you the opportunity to opt out. You can always opt back into school lunches, but we are very aware of the amount of waste that gets thrown away each day.

Many things have had to change this year and our Year 6 leavers is now one of these. We will be having the year 6 prize giving in school time and whānau will not be able to come in. What we will do is video the whole event and share this with you through SEESAW. The only whānau that we will invite in will be for the recipients of the Korowai and they will have to show us they are vaccinated. I can assure you it will be an amazing presentation for our KURA kids and yes we are sad you can't be there but like everything, over the last two years, we are making the best of a bad situation.

I would like to continue to thank the staff at our school who have worked well beyond what is expected of them. Steve, Jim, and Sandy who ensure that our school environment and the insides of all our buildings are looking stunning. They have worked hard to ensure that everything is cleaned to a very high standard and I thank them for everything they have done this year.

Our administration area is still being worked on, most of the painting is now complete and our new kitchen goes in hopefully this weekend.  Everything you order at the moment takes so long to arrive but we are all looking forward to seeing it complete. Our staffroom area is very important as it is where staff go to have some peace during the day and to eat, so it is really looking good.  I will post some pictures when it is complete.
