STAFFING UPDATE - FAREWELL

Charlotte Ell is finally able to fulfil her dream of embarking on the trip of a lifetime, heading off on her OE.  After wanting to head away a few years back and a global pandemic getting in the way, Charlotte heads off to Europe to see the world. Char is treasured in our kura community as an amazing teacher and communicator, loved by her tamariki. She has lead our school choir as well as being the staff NZEI rep.  She will be greatly missed and look forward to the travelling updates.

Ebony Sushames who is currently doing two days a week in Room 10 with Miss Roche has recently purchased the Wellington Baby Sensory business with her partner.  Her remarkable skills were prominently showcased this year as the driving force behind the school show.  Ebz's departure from kura will undoubtedly be felt, as she has been a cherished asset over the past seven years.  We extend our heartfelt wishes to her for a successful and fulfilling journey in this exciting new chapter, and we look forward to seeing her still pop into kura.

Grace Mulvihill will be welcoming her second pēpi into the world in February so will be taking a year’s maternity leave.  Grace has been doing two days a week as classroom release cover for our kaiako.  We can’t wait to meet number two and have you back at kura in 2025 Grace.

STAFFING UPDATE - WELCOME

Michaela Evans comes to us from Eastern Hutt Primary with a decade of teaching experience, where she has been in numerous leadership roles.  Michaela was granted paid study leave this year to study Te Reo Māori through Te Wānanga o Raukawa ki Ōtaki. She now lives in The Bay and is ecstatic to join our wonderful team of kaiako.

Reece Kennedy comes to us from Te Uku Primary in Raglan as he and his partner make the move to Wellington.  Reece who spent some time as a marine engineer in the Royal New Zealand Navy has thrived since following his passion to join the teaching profession. His love for the water and surfing will align nicely with being in The Bay.

Cherie Haughton comes to us as a first year teacher after completing her Masters this year through Te Herenga Waka.  She has three tamariki of her own aged between 6 and 14 and loves gardening, yoga and the outdoors. This year she has also completed He Pī Ka Rere, te reo Māori Level 4 at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.

We are extremely excited with the calibre of new kaiako we are welcoming to kura and know they are all going to add huge value to the already existing stunning team of teachers we have.
