KERRY'S THOUGHTS

Welcome to term 3 and what a wet day we started the term with. I am sure over this term we will get some nice days so our KURA kids can get out and play. We as staff call term 3 the big term, as it is heads down in classes, and let's get some mahi done. We have so many things on this term and you will see in this newsletter all the dates and times you need to be aware of. Noho for year 6, Noho for year 3 at school, electives, Maori Language week, Tongan Language week, Kotahitanga at Titahi Bay Intermediate and there is lots more. Khaylen Huriwai starts his sole charge in Room 12 on the 16th of August and we are looking forward to having Khaylen in our school. I am away on the 2nd,3rd and 4th of August at the Principals conference in Rotorua and then I am in Christchurch on the 19th and 20th. So if you need to talk with anyone Jamie Merrick is always around or Miranda McMahon. This is a 10 week term with no Teacher only days and no public holidays so 50 school days of fun. We end the term with the year 4-6 school show which will be exciting to see and Ebony will give more details about this later in the term. Please look out for the HUB newsletters which are full of the details of what each area of our school is doing.

SWIS - Social worker in schools

We welcome back off maternity leave Yaz, she is an added bonus to our school and we look forward to working with her again.  We will get her details to you once we have them.

SEESAW Survey

A big thank you to all our whānau who completed our SEESAW survey.   Really effective feedback and over 85% of you really like real time reporting, just like our staff do.

Staff Updates

We have some new staff working in our school or in different positions this term.

Nadia Collins in Room 19 and on a Wednesday in R11 we have Rachel McKinnon.   On a Friday in R9 we have Jamie Merrick and on Monday's across the school, we have Phillipa Brosnahan.   On a Friday we have Emma Currie working across the school and week 6 we will start up our new new entrant room and the teacher will be Christine MacDonald.   Learning support in school - you will hear our staff talk about a range of people we use in school to help target learning or support our tamariki.  We use so many acronyms I thought I would remind you what they all mean.
