Tawa Junior Hockey club runs a local Porirua/Tawa hockey competition every year for primary age children. This is a school based competition (schools can combine if not enough players) and is played at Linden Park (year 3/4) and Tawa College Turf (Year 5/6). The aim is to provide an affordable way for kids to start playing in a fun environment.All games are 6 a side, so the ideal team size is 9 or 10 players.

Costs are $135/team for year 3/4 and $290 for year 5/6

The season is scheduled to start on Sat May 6th and finish on Sat Aug 26th(grass) and Sat Sept 9th(turf). No games on King's Birthday weekend or the 2nd and 3rd Saturdays of the school holidays. Grass games are 9am and turf usually between 8am and 1pm depending on the number of teams.

In recent years numbers have been quite low, so the continuation of this competition requires enough teams to make it viable.
