YEAR 6 NOHO MARAE

Matt Tilley —

Our Year 6 students (tamariki) enjoyed a truly special experience as they were warmly welcomed onto Takapūwāhia Marae for their Noho Marae. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the members of Whaea Grace’s whānau who played a crucial role in facilitating the Pōwhiri. A special acknowledgement goes to Matua Gardner for his meaningful kōrero on behalf of our school as the manuhiri (visitors) during our stay.

Throughout the two days, our rangatahi (youth) engaged in various activities, including poi, kapa haka, drama, and weaving. They also delved into the intricate details and rich history of the wharenui. In addition, they had the opportunity to partake in traditional Māori games, share their mihi, and deepen their understanding of the carvings within the wharenui.

A profound thank you is extended to all our dedicated kaiako who invested countless hours to make these experiences possible for our tamariki.
