TUMUAKI PĀNUI

Matt Tilley —

Kia ora ngā whānau o te kura o Tītahi Bay

This pānui concludes the term as the last piece of communication before the term break. The final week of any school term is about reflecting on learning, celebrating success and acknowledging individual and collective efforts.

We are very grateful to the Hutt Mana Charitable Trust for their very generous gift of $50,000 so we can surface our back court for all weather purposes. This will be an exciting addition to our beautiful Kura and we are hoping it will be installed before 2023.

I am super proud of the resilience and flexibility shown from our tamariki. Kura kids are the best and that has been evident again this term. Many have had to deal with some form of illness and have returned to school with their positive attitude and keenness to learn. Opportunities are opening up again and their teachers are busy organising a wide range of engaging and exciting opportunities for them. In term 3 we welcome Electives into our Wednesday program where our ākonga will have a wide range of options to choose from and a special chance to work alongside other tamariki and kaiako from across our kura.

It has been a privilege to see the amazing work our teachers and support staff have put into our wonderful school this term. If you believe it is deserved and you have the time, please flick a message of appreciation to your child's teacher this week. They have done an amazing job this term, always positive in their interaction with students, engaging their students’ personal and learning needs and keeping learning and life at school enjoyable. They have taken students on educational visits, sports trips, kept classroom programmes challenging and engaging and provided motivation and guidance whilst managing staffing challenges and disruptions, illness and some pretty brutal weather. I thoroughly enjoyed reading numerous students’ reports and am grateful to the time and effort that were invested in these. I hope that you get a chance to show your appreciation and I am certain any positive correspondence will be well received.

I want to recognise our 19 runners that represented Porirua yesterday at the Regional Cross Country at Harcourt Park in Upper Hutt. Jack Jenkins qualified for the Wellington team with a 9th place finish. It is a great achievement for all of our runners to get that far and represent our city.

Photolife have emailed out the individual key codes so you can now order your photo's directly with Photolife.   There is a free delivery option but this must be paid for prior to Sunday 24th July.

I wish you all a safe and happy time with your children over the next two weeks. We live in a very special part of New Zealand so staying active by accessing the outdoors with amazing walks and bike rides is so easy. We are so lucky.

We will look forward to seeing your child on Monday July 25 for the start of another superb term at our kura.
