Room 11 had a great morning at Onepoto Park last week planting 100 native plants with Porirua City Council. We learnt about why the council is building up the bank of the Kohatea Stream and helping to make the quality of the water that follows through it better by planting native plants beside it. The tamariki loved learning more about how to plant trees and enjoyed making cardboard surrounds for the plants so they would be protected by animals, birds and the winter elements. We are looking forward to going back later in the year to see how the plants are growing.
