We celebrate Matariki by remembering our whanau. Together with your whanau you have a maori hangi. Some people weave and weave with harakeke. Also you sing waiata and get all your whanau to do the haka. And you have quiet time outside and see the nine stars.

We celebrate Matariki to remember people from the past. Matariki is the Maori new year. At this time, we see the nine stars. To celebrate Matariki we make kites with your family! In my family we go to my Nannys house and cousins house. We make kites and have a big feast together. My nanny makes super yummy food!
