STRING BEAN PUPPET VISIT AND PUPPET WORKSHOP
Koru is investigating how we can use the arts to communicate our thoughts, feelings and opinions. We had Anna from String Bean Puppets come and perform her show 'Nan and Tuna'. This show was originally created for Porirua Harbour Trust about eels and looking after our water ways. The show uses shadow, water and string puppets to share a message about the importance of protecting our eels and waterways. The students loved the show and having a chance to ask Anna lots of questions about telling stories, making puppets and putting on shows. They also loved the chance to play with a variety of her puppets. After the show and talk, Koru students returned to their classes to have a go at making their own sock and stick puppets. It was a fantastic day and a lot of fun seeing the creativity of our tamariki and the cheeky characters that emerged from the puppets.
