Mālō e lelei, a warm welcome to Tongan language week. It is nice to see the sun come out and that feeling of Spring coming to the fore.
Matt Tilley is unwell and away from school at the moment so Miranda McMahon and Jamie Merrick are filling in as acting co-principals until Matt is healthy and back with us in the not too distant future. We have cancelled our Quiz Night and have been in contact with those who had already purchased tickets. We will look at doing this fun event sometime in the future.
Term 3 is passing by quite quickly, we are already halfway through week 7. We are very proud of the opportunities that our tamariki have been getting recently and the plans for some exciting events happening towards the end of this term and in Term 4 are coming together well.
Our Year 6 classes are halfway through an EPRO8 (Engineering and problem solving) week. Ngahere are also exploring Minecraft Education this week - the buzz in these rooms is fantastic.
Camp preparation for our Year 6’s is well underway. This is at El Rancho in Waikanae from 23-25 November. Parents coming with us are: Brent Collins, Paul O’Callaghan, Willow Forgeson, Toni Wirihana, Abby Keplar, Manoj Ranchord, Malcolm Priest, Brett Hamer, Natasha Frater, Chris Albertson, and Josh Twaddle. The cost of camp is $100 per child. This can be paid now, either online or in the School Office by eftpos.
It has been great to have so many extra sporting opportunities for our tamariki, Move and Groove at the Arena, Basketball exchanges with Rangikura and Glenview school, coaching from Mana College students. We thank all those who have stepped up to help make these opportunities possible.
For those of you who had tamariki playing Basketball, Hockey, Netball or Floorball this season mark your calendars for the Prize giving Monday 19th September school hall, 1.50-3pm
Please if you have a singlet from Basketball could you return this to the office ASAP so it can be used for the next round of sport.
We are really looking forward to Te Wiki o te Reo Māori - Māori Language Week next week, we have lots of great activities across the school planned and our Year 3’s are particularly excited as they prepare for their Noho Marae here at school.
In week 10 we are having a sports exchange with Redwood School. Our Year 3-6 students, who have chosen to, will compete against Redwood school in a variety of sports right here at Kura Street. If you are interested in being part of this day either helping with umpiring or “coaching” a team on the day please get in touch with Miss Kelleher jacinta.kelleher@titahibay.school.nz
