Community of Tui Motu: Volunteers
Tui Motu magazine is blessed with volunteers in Dunedin and in many places around the motu.
The team of Ōtepoti/Dunedin volunteers, who come to the office once or twice each month to label the envelopes and pack them ready for posting, contribute their service and strengthen the community of Tui Motu magazine.
We had a team of seven volunteers in Ōtepoti during the year:
Ken Fahey — labelled international mail
Kathleen Currie — packed international mail
Kathy Mayo — labelled and packed New Zealand mail
Maureen Smith — labelled and packed New Zealand mail
Jan Ogilvie OP — labelled and packed New Zealand mail
Kris Bennett — labelled and packed New Zealand mail
Francie Skelton — labelled and packed New Zealand mail
These volunteers contributed at least 242 hours of work — and a year of friendship.
Highlights
As well as the monthly morning teas when our posting work is finished, we celebrated the end of the publication year with a celebration dinner on 7 December. Ann and Ann put on their aprons, roped in Ann's sons and concocted a feast in thanksgiving for the interest, generosity and friendship of our volunteers.
Volunteers in the Parishes
Our volunteers in the "field" keep the magazine before the minds of parishioners by selling copies in their parishes each month. This is an inestimable service and one for which we are most grateful.

Acknowledgment
Judith Robinson OP, our longtime parish seller in Waihōpai/Invercargill, died in October 2024 after a short illness. Judith epitomised the support that the Dominican Sisters have given Tui Motu since its foundation. We are most grateful for her enthusiasm in promoting the magazine right up to her death. Thank you dear Judith!
