March Newsletter
The latest issue of Tui Motu magazine is on the way. We hope it will lighten this time of the COVID-19 threat. We are thinking especially of Aucklanders in Lockdown and all those for whom the restrictions add anxiety in their lives.
Our volunteers arrived last week and again this morning to pack the magazines. Even with social distancing lively discussions circulated and we were able to celebrate Shirley Curran's birthday at morning tea.
Postage Delays
We're not sure if the increase in alert levels in New Zealand will affect the mail. It could be that the Auckland and international mail is held up and your magazine is delivered later than expected. If you don't receive your magazine please let us know and we will send a digital copy.
TM Issue with a Difference
The March magazine is different from usual in that most articles are just one page long. The theme of the issue is about our participating in God's mission, so we asked contributors to share what makes them go the extra mile for others. The responses are well worth reading.
About Lent 2021
I read an article by Tim Duckworth SM on CathNews New Zealand about living Lent this year by focusing on helping the world achieve the Sustainable Development Goals rather than on "pious denials". In case you missed it you can read it here. Caritas is a significant avenue for us to help in achieving the goals, especially in our region of the world.
HUGEST Thank You
Our last new subscribers told us that they were subscribing because friends had given them a copy of Tui Motu or recommended it to them. Thank you! Ann Hassan and I are both wearing huge smiles.
More Thanks
Packets of used stamps keep arriving — thank you! These stamps are an example of throwaways turning into treasure for someone else.
Keep safe everyone. Keep being kind and enjoy your March read.
And for a little laugh:
