Rise in Subscription Price
We need to raise the price of a subscription to Tui Motu magazine and the increase will begin in July.
The new prices are:
New Zealand
One year (waged): NZD 70.00
One year (unwaged meaning not in paid employment): NZD 60.00
Six months (unwaged): NZD 30.00
Australia and Pacific
One year subscription: NZD 90.00
Two year subscription: NZD 180.00
Other International
One year subscription: NZD 100.00
Two year subscription: NZD 200.00
I realise that a price increase is not the news you want to hear from us and we wish it was otherwise. But you will see in our Annual Report 2021-2022 that our operating costs are slightly in the red. This is because of increases in the costs of producing the magazine — mainly printing and postage. You will also see that our investments are keeping us in financial health. They are not bringing in the same interest they did in former years but through your generosity we have them as a cushion.
Why We're Doing All Right in this Financial Climate
1. Providence and Generosity: Just look at the Annual Report 2021-2022 to see the enormous support of the Tui Motu community through volunteer hours, donations, writing and artwork contributions. Ann and I are humbled and delighted by the scale of your generosity.
2. Good Management: Together with the Board we look for ways to keep our expenses down. You'll notice that we've increased advertising in each issue. We are using email reminders about renewals rather than postage wherever possible. Ann Hassan keeps an eagle eye on our bank balance.
3. Our Magazine: Each issue is the work of so many people — writers, artists, craftspeople, promoters and distributors — and the variety of articles and columns means that it interests a wide readership. It's worth the price of the subscription.
