This issue has some strong articles which make for great reading. Right from the start with Clare Curran; Neil Darragh is particularly inspiring; Tui Cadigan; Susan Healy; Glynn Cardy; Mary Thorne; Peter Healy and the illustration and Ann Hassan. From: Chris Crowe
Ooh, that is a wonderful review [Downfall reviewed by Shane Coleman]. Thanks so much for sharing it with me. Paul [author] will be thrilled. From: Sarah (Massey University Press)
Tui Motu arrived the other day and so I started reading and thought, Neil's one is so good, I will have to write to him, thought the same for Tui's then for Mary Thorne. Then thought I cannot write to all of them, so will just tell you how good it all was. From: Susan Smith
Issue 281 May 2023
I read Tui Motu every month cover to cover. Thank you and all your wonderful writers for this superb publication. From: Victoria Raw
Thank you for the copy of your magazine, which arrived in today’s mail. It is a beautiful publication, and I will settle down with it later, to read through it. My painting looks great, and I was very happy to read your nice note ... If you ever want to use another painting of mine, please do not hesitate to ask. In fact, if you are ever looking for a particular kind of image, you can also give me a shout. I have MANY paintings, which are not on my website, so I can always send you additional jpegs to consider. It is very exciting and gratifying to know that people on the other side of the planet can see my art! From: Alexis Lavine, USA
Issue 282 June 2023
Thank you so much for the card. I loved the layout, and tweeted out the article too no sooner than I saw it was online. I've heard a lot of people write in, or message to say that they enjoyed reading it. Thanks again for the opportunity to share some thoughts on what I do. From: Sanjana Hattotuwa
Thank you for a year of great reading and I so love the ART. From: Tania Shackleton Lindisfarne Methodist Church, Invercargill
Issue 283 July 2023
A wee note to thank you for publishing my “When did you know?” piece in your July edition. The layout was great and I’m sure this contributed to the overall effect. I have had several very positive reactions to it. The whole edition is terrific. From: James Lyons
Definitely our "read of the month". From: Vince and Joanne Monk
Tui Motu continues to be a good and informative magazine. There would have been sadness ... in many parts of the country with the death of Michael Hill. He was such a good person and had a wide circle of admirers. He certainly left his mark on Tui Motu, as have all the editors — when I think of it! From: Elizabeth Mary Fulton
Issue 284 August 2023
I have received the August issue, thank you. Even though I say it myself my article reads well. I want to congratulate you on the excellent editorial. From: David More
What stunning publishing you do! I'm so glad I said "yes" to your Mataraki issue — very proud to be featured in it.. have yet to read it! Will take it to work today. From artist: Jane Riley
Thank you so much for your kind words in the beautiful card accompanying your inspirational August issue of Tui Motu — a magazine brimming with insights and positivity. FYI in our home it has a "forever" shelf life – just to pick up to ponder on from time to time. I love the wide range of topics bravely raised and discussed with candour, wisdom and compassion along with the beautiful imagery and sincere articles. Michelle Egan-Bitran’s article a "must read" by all and it’s an honour to have graced her pages. From artist: Robin Ranga
Issue 285 September 2023
A very good friend gifted me a subscription to the magazine two years ago, and I have come to enjoy many of the articles – initially quite a different catholic/religious approach for us 80+ year olds! I definitely will be renewing my subscription and plan to gift a subscription to a non-catholic daughter in law. From: Angela Ussher
Good wishes and I should add I do so look forward to the arrival of each new and stimulating issue. All blessings on you, the team and your great work. From: Steve Baird
Kia ora to the two Anns, Big thanks for the wonderful display of my poem ... It’s amazing what the right photo can bring to the words. It’s enough to keep me writing! And thanks too Ann H for your card — a Tui Motu signature gesture. I'm sure all contributors appreciate it greatly. From: Mike Fitzsimons
Issue 286 October 2023
I have to say your design and layout is very classy! From: Susan Cahill (editor of Mercy Enews, Dublin)
It really is a privilege to write for Tui Motu. From: Zain Ali
It’s always a pleasure to be in Tui Motu. From: Massimo Faggioli
It’s always lovely to get into the articles in Tui Motu … so much shared wisdom and to ponder in each issue what the editor reflects on. You and your team do a great service to all who read your magazine. It’s mind-opening, informative, inspiring and challenging all at once. From: Marj Crossman (pdf copy sent to Peru)
Issue 287 November 2023
Loved the November issue. From: Suellen Boyce
Just a little note to say how much I appreciate the work undertaken for the November issue. Well done everyone! From: Lita van Bunnik
Your November issue was so nourishing. I look forward to all the future articles. I just wish I had studied Māori. From: Mary Engelbrecht (97 years old)
I have been so impressed with this issue. I loved Zain Ali’s article. If this was a practise within our Christian Churches, what an impact that would have to have!? His Rumi quote to bring it all together ... "and why would you doubt the rise of a seed named human?" Why indeed! Your article, too, Ann Hassan – “My Heart will be loving”. What courage, Wow! Then “The Return of Purgatory” initially I didn’t want to read this one ... old hang-ups! But what an interesting take, what a fantastic lesson in how some of our punitive measures within Church teachings evolved! An excellent read, but one I know, that I have to re-read to come to grips with some of those finer points! From: Rita Cahill
Issue 288 December 2023
I'm delighted to receive 2 copies of your magazine, and am so glad that my artwork could work well with the specific article. Thank you once again. From artist: Wai Ping Mo
My dad, Gray Nelson held a subscription for Tui Motu for a number of years and even contributed a short piece about his schooling in Manaia with the Sisters of St Joseph in 2021. Dad really enjoyed Tui Motu and read it from cover to cover. Dad passed away on 29 November 2022, so we have recently marked his first anniversary and our second Christmas without him. Receiving Tui Motu following dad's death was very comforting. Thank you for the amazing work you do ... I have taken out a subscription. From: Catherine Nelson
Issue 289 February 2024
The centre pages of Tui Motu are so moving. The photo of that beautiful boy becomes the young Jesus for me. Thank you for publishing this poem. I truly feel that some of my poems are one small way I can offer alternatives to war and work for peace with justice through poetry. Seamus Heaney said poetry won’t change the world. But it might change the reader. From poet: Anne Powell
Keep up your amazing mahi. I hang out for Tui Motu to arrive at the beginning of each month & devour it! Pass copies on to other members of our ecumenical women’s group in Murihiku Southland. Rangimarie. From: Jenny Campbell
Issue 290 March 2024
Thanks Ann, what a wonderful review of "The Ever-Widening Circles". I have now got Alzheimer’s so life’s complicated. Good that the book was well finished before this really hit. Thank you for Tui Motu. It is the very best Christian magazine I know. From: Marg Schrader
So happy to be included in Tui Motu. Thank you again for all your support of Orbis Books! From: Bernadette Price, Orbis Books USA
Thanks to Tui Motu for holding on to our faith and articulating our hopes and dreams. I will be forever grateful to the Sisters Margaret and Ann RSM, Wiri, for introducing to me Tui Motu. As we say in our local Church where I came from — Legazpi Diocese, Albay Province in the Philippines — “Padagos an Mission” (Continue the Mission (literal translation) meaning let us walk in solidarity as we continue the Mission of Jesus). From: Jocelyn Vicente-Angeles
I feel compelled to reply, saying how much I appreciate some of the recurring messages in Tui Motu. So many writers converge on the idea of "the kingdom of heaven" starting here, in our world. I am speaking as someone who had always been made to think of heaven as somewhere you go to (if you're lucky!) when you die. The world we live in being a passing phase, even a vale of tears, etc. So many of the prayers at Mass repeat that message. I could go on but I will just say thank you. From: Jack Thompson
