Magazine Issues
We published 11 issues of Tui Motu InterIslands magazine — issues 269-279 — between April 2022 and March 2023.
The April 2022 issue was on the theme Pilgrims and Refugees / Nga Tangata Haerenga. A focus was on the refugees from the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Two new writers contributed to this issue.
The May 2022 issue was on the theme of Work and the Common Good / Mahi me te Pai Whanui. The cover for this issue was designed by Jane Maisey RSJ. Three new writers contributed to the May issue.
The June 2022 issue was on the theme Food and Gratitude / Whakamihi me te Kai Ora. We published articles by four new writers in the June issue.
The July 2022 issue was on the theme Kinship with Water / Ke Whanaunga te Wai. We introduced three new writers in this issue.
The August 2022 issue took the theme Learning through the Generations / Ako I Roto I Nga Whakatipuranga. We published articles by three new writers in this issue.
The September 2002 issue was on the theme Loving Earth's Community / Aroha to Hapori o te Whenua. It was published during the Season of Creation. Three new writers contributed to this issue.
The October 2022 issue was on the theme Be Hopeful / Kia Tūmanako. We published two new writers in this issue.
The November 2022 issue was on the theme Be Inclusive / Huri Noa. We published three new writers in this issue.
The December 2022 issue was our last for the 2022 year and the last issue designed by Greg Hings. It was on the theme Be There / Kai Reira. Three new writers contributed articles in this issue.
The February 2023 issue was our first for the new year and the first designed by our new designer Lilly Johnson. It was on the theme Embrace 2023 / Awhi i te tau 2023. We also acknowledged that the Tui Motu has now been published for 25 years in this issue. The design had a mixed reception, principally relating to legibility. We were able to correct these problems in the March issue. One new writer contributed an article to this issue.
The March 2023 issue was on the Lenten theme Fasting for Justice / Nohopuku mo te Tika. We published three new writers in this issue.
Australasian Catholic Press Association Award
Tui Motu magazine received one award from ACPA. The magazine was highly commended (second) in the Best Print Magazine category. This was a pleasing result indictating that the standard of the magazine is continuing to match its reputation developed over 25 years of publication.
