Rosminian priest Michael Hill, the first and founding editor of Tui Motu magazine, died in Dunedin on 6 July 2023. Michael was a warm, relational man evident by the full church at his funeral Eucharist in Holy Name Church, Dunedin. He had presided at the 7.30am Sunday Eucharist and a weekday Eucharist there till shortly before his death. Michael was a Yorkshireman in his 90s, who had no family in New Zealand, but who had made lasting friendships through his teaching and pastoral ministry, his editorship of Tui Motu, his book writing and many community interests. A copy of our tribute to Michael is at the end of this report.
