Lockdown Thought — Day 30

We're invited to "Stand at Dawn" at our mailboxes or driveways at 6.00am tomorrow for Anzac Day.

I don’t naturally linger but I very much like the concept. Stopping in natural settings without any fixed schedule increases the chances that I will take notice. I can smell, see, listen, touch natural ecosystems. What beauty and colour and wisdom will we discover? Maybe this lockdown is helping us linger more, appreciate more —  feel our belonging in this creation.

Like rain on the earth breaking the drought
Like crocuses in spring defying the frost
Like sun on the horizon banishing the storm
Like young ones in T-shirts heedless of the cold
Like a prophet with courage warning of empty choices
Like the hen in the evening gathering her chicks
Like a leader in an emergency caring for the vulnerable
Like a tui at dawn melting silence with song
Be above us, behind us, beside us, before us
Be with us encouraging, guiding, surprising and restoring
Healing One.

And we remember with compassion the families grieving their loved ones who died yesterday.

For a laugh, to remember and just because it's lovely:
