Lockdown Thought — Day 7

We need ordinary, inspiring people around us to challenge our insularity and show us what respecting the dignity of others really looks, sounds and smells like.

We need their imagination of a world where people’s diversity is appreciated, understood, valued, supported and included.

These home-grown prophets — and we’ll all recognise someone in our lives — offer an alternative story to those being broadcast aimed at labelling, denigrating and belittling groups of people.

So let's work at being more responsive and grateful in this time of lockdown.

Just as relief floods us
when we sniff the milk and find it will last another day

all the compassion for the sick and grieving
all the thoughtfulness and understanding we need —
to live well in our bubbles today,
Christ with us.
