Upack your perceptions of how 'rich' or 'poor' you think you are with this inspiring TED talk.

Follow this Process:

  1. Preview the video See how the rest of the world lives, organized by income as a teacher and set up an activity to help students decide 'how poor' or 'how rich' they think they are in relation to other people in different countries.

  2. Watch the TED Talk video See how the rest of the world lives, organized by income as a class.

  3. Discuss how we are similar and different in different countries. Why is this the case? What are the main messages in this video?

  4. Explore the website Dollar Street (including this page) and note down your observations as a class. Make comparisons about these observations.

  5. Brainstorm how you might create a promotional campaign to educate other people in your school community about the main ideas.

  6. Create a video promoting this and post it to this website to inspire others.
