Project Updates Dec 2016 - UNwebquests.nz is taking off!

Rob Clarke —

We've made good progress in setting up this exciting project - now the fun begins!

Over the past few weeks we've been busy publicising this important project to Kiwi educators and have had a good response.

We now have 5 people who have expressed an interest in writing webquests, a professional proof reader/copywriter for reviewing them, plus 10 more educators who want to be kept in the loop and use webquests with their students.

The range of educators interested in this project spans NZ from Southland up to Auckland, with age groups from Year 3 to Year 13 and most learning areas represented.

The topics educators are asking to explore include:

  • Literacy
  • eLearning
  • Arts
  • NZ History
  • Human Rights
  • Sustainable Development
  • Geography and development studies
  • General
  • Eco-System, Sustainability and Environmental Issues
  • Global perspectives and sustainable development goals
  • Social Activism
  • Climate Change
  • General Politics
  • Children's Rights
  • Child Poverty
  • Medical care
  • Refugees and conflict
  • Environmental public health
  • Agriculture

Next steps...

Our next steps are to create a form to capture completed webquests, which will merge into a document that will be shared to our proofreader/copywriter for checking.

This form will be created during the school holidays.

For those who have offered to contribute to the project, thank you - we greatly appreciate your enthusiasm and expertise. Once you've had a good rest, please consider taking a little time during the holidays to draft up your ideas ready to submit once the submission process is finalised.

If you are talking to teacher or principal friends over the holiday break, please mention this project to them and encourage them to sign up...

Have a restful holiday season and a Merry Christmas everyone.
