School Drop-off and Pick-up reminders

Upper Harbour Primary School —

We are consistently noticing some families are dropping children at school too early, or too late and are collecting children past 3pm. Read our communication about what this may mean for you and your child.

In response to this noticing we wanted to share some important reminders about our school day.

School and classrooms open at 8:30am

Children should not be on-site before 8:30am unless attending A-Plus. Unsupervised children may be placed into the care of A-Plus until classes open. This will be at the cost of the family.

School begins at 8:55am

The school day begins at 8:55am with a whole school waiata in our amphitheatre. Children sing our karakia and other songs. This is an important part of school life, and class routines. Arriving at school in time to put away your belongings and greet your teacher and classmates ensures your child begins the day settled and will be ready to learn.

Families of children who are late for greater than 30% of their child's attendance will be informed of this in week 5 (mid-term). Families who continue to drop their child at school late will be asked to attend a meeting at the beginning of Term 2 to discuss how we can further support your family to arrive at school on-time.

School finishes at 3:00pm

After 3pm children must travel home and for safety reasons are not to play on school grounds unsupervised. If you are going to be late please contact the office and your child will wait in our school foyer. Children are not allowed to wait unsupervised on school grounds (including the playgrounds). After 3:20pm any children who have not been picked up will be placed into the care of A-Plus until they are collected. This will be at the cost of the family.
